Get Glee-Inspired Glamour!

The gorgeous Glee actress, Amber Riley, graced the 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards’ stage last week in a stunning blue gown complemented by a flawless complexion.
Celebrity Makeup Artist, Mylah Morales, created a beautiful COVERGIRL inspired look for the actress. Here’s a breakdown of the look if you’d like to replicate her glamourous glow.

Mylah started with COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation for a creamy, even finish and set it with Natural Hue Minerals Pressed Powder for staying power.

For an all over glow, Mylah used Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer in Brown Bronze and to add a touch of color, Mylah blended a pinky blush on the apples of Amber’s cheeks.

For Amber’s eyes Mylah went for a silver shadow to complement the slate blue dress. She kept the eye look sophisticated by using a neutral brown in the crease and defined the eyes with COVERGIRLLiquiLineBlast in Black Fire. Amber’s lashes were coated with several swipes of COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume Mascara to make Amber’s eyes pop.

To complete the red carpet look, Mylah used Queen Collection Lip Color in Au Naturale with ShineBlast Lip Gloss in Glow; for dimensional shine.

Sheer Cover Event Recap

On Monday night, I had the pleasure of attending a Sheer Cover beauty event in the Marchesa showroom. Although I was supposed to be learning about the benefits of using the beauty brand, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the gorgeous gowns surrounding the room. Since I was completely unfamiliar with Sheer Cover, I quickly regained focus to get the scoop about the mineral makeup.

Beautiful Marchesa cocktail dresses surrounded the showroom.

A peek at the Sheer Cover cosmetics.

I learned that not only does this makeup provide coverage, but it’s also good for your skin. It contains skin-protecting antioxidants, which is always a plus. It’s also formulated with light-reflecting minerals which blends with your skin’s natural oils making for a seamless finish. I was worried that they wouldn’t have complementary shades for us BGs, but I was wrong. They have mixable shades that will blend well with our varying skintones.

BGG’s Luxurious Aveeno-Sponsored Weekend!

Thanks to Aveeno and RecycleBank I, along with several other beauty/mom bloggers were whisked out to Los Angeles for a weekend of pampering, luncheons, cocktail parties, dinners, and backstage access to the Independent Spirit Awards. Although my trip started off bumpy due to an unexpected hiccup in my flight schedule, the trip was still amazing.

Fresh off the plane I was immediately escorted to the swanky Exhale Spa at the Fairmont Marimar & Bungalows where I indulged in a marvelous mani/pedi, facial, and massage. I know, for a busy mom like me this was just what the doctored ordered. To top it off, I even had my makeup done just in time for dinner at Santa Monica’s popular Italian eatery, Valentino.

On Saturday we headed to the Independent Spirit Awards, where I literally bumped into the always dapper Taye Diggs on the red carpet. Backstage there were a slew of other celebrities from Kerry Washington to Nicole Kidman.

The lovely and quite friendly Erin of Scandalous Beauty and I in the lobby of Shutters on the Beach Hotel headed to the awards.

Throughout the weekend I chatted with Aveeno experts, Summer Rayne Oakes and Patrick Melville who shared tips on and facts about the brand. Did you know that Aveeno has been around for over 60 years and that it all began with two brothers experimenting with raw cereals? Who knew, right? No wonder their oatmeal-infused formula is one of their top-sellers. Not only did I learn about the brand, but I also got a chance to use products from their newest collection, Smart Essentials, which was created to address stressed skin.

After my whirlwind trip, I made sure to use the brand’s newest eye roller, Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment to combat the dark-circles that were certain to ensue due to my lack of sleep. It de-puffed and brightened my eyes making me look refreshed.

Overall, it was a fun-filled weekend that I’ll add to my BGG most memorable moments.

Did you watch the Independent Spirit Awards and/or the Academy Awards this weekend?

New Product Alert: Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System

Looks like the lovely people at Olay have decided to try their hand at an exfoliating skincare system a la Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System. Its toothbrush-esque bristles are supposed to slough away dead skin cells while deep-cleaning pores, leaving behind a clearer complexion.

I have yet to try this latest beauty gadget, but if it’s anything like the Clarisonic brand, it’s a steal for only $30! I use my Clarisonic Mia several times a week and am always pleased with the results. However, I am tempted to try Olay’s simply because I swear by all of their products, especially their tried-and-true daily moisturizer. Hmm…will they convert me…perhaps!

Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System available at www.amazon.com for $27.54

Have you tried this product? It’s definitely an affordable alternative to the Clarisonic brand. What do you use to keep your skin looking sensational?

Also, the winners of the Usher VIP cologne are: Angelina and T! Congrats! Please send me your mailing addresses.

Spring for L’Oreal Products!

Last night I had the luxury of attending a sneak peek of L’Oreal’s newest spring must-haves. Not only did the event showcase the brand’s latest beauty buys in cosmetics, hair care, hair color, and skincare, but delicious desserts inspired by the products were also presented for us makeup mavens to munch on. For example, the new Magic Smooth Souffle Makeup was paired with a scrumptious chocolate mousse prepared by chef Roberto Alicea.

After testing the new serums, lip colors, and more, I’d have to say that the item that impressed me the most was the Double Extend Eye Illuminator Mascara. The two-step application lengthens and illuminates lashes and eyes. Available in 4 shades, the Black Quartz and Black Crystal are customized for us brown-eyed BGs. You know I’ve never met a mascara that I didn’t love and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint.

So this spring, be on the lookout for these low-cost, yet luxurious buys from L’Oreal!

Are you a fan of the brand? If so, what are your favorite L’Oreal products?

Rihanna: Pop Performer Now Perfumer

Rihanna, the R&B singer and burgeoning fashionista is the latest celebrity to add her two “scents” to the fragrance world. Her debut perfume, Reb’l Fleur is a lovely mix of prime fruits and ambrosial florals, as well as a tantalizing mix of vanilla, patchouli and amber. The fragrance, as well as the packaging personifies the pop diva’s pretty-as-a-petal beauty, while highlighting her edginess.

You can get your hands on this sure-to-be Valentine’s Day must-have once it arrives in stores next month. In fact, BGG will be giving away 3 bottles from our favorite Barbadian beauty.

Available in February at retailers nationwide for $49 (1.7 oz)

Would you try this fragrance? Stay tuned, there will be a giveaway in the next few weeks!
