Who says that family fun has to stop in the winter? Sure, chilly temps can make going out less tempting, but there are so many reasons to brave the wintry air and live theater is one of them!
New Victory Theater is currently showing, “Emily Brown and the Thing,” an outstanding London-based musical performance that taps into kids’ imaginations with a wonderful tale of kindness and adventure. Adapted from the popular children’s book by Neal Layton and award-winning author Cressida Cowell, the 60-minute show tells the story of a bright young girl named Emily Brown who is on a mission to turn in with her best stuffed bunny. However, her quest for dreamland is thwarted by several inane requests made by a pesky, yet endearing unidentifiable creature, better known as a thing.
Throughout the show, Emily and her beloved bunny, Stanley embark on fanciful journeys to save the day and appease the “thing” by satisfying his requests. Each of their adventures are accompanied by fun songs and funny antics that keeps young audiences amused. Themes of friendship, bravery and determination are exemplified in the show providing kids with valuable lessons in lively, engaging ways.
Aimed at children ages 4-7, “Emily Brown and the Thing,” is a great way to introduce little ones to theater and keep them entertained on a cold winter day.
“Emily Brown and the Thing” is playing at New Victory Theater, located 229 W. 42nd Street, New York, NY and runs through February 3rd, 2019. Click here for ticket information.
